There are few careers that can be as easily gotten into as a career in web design. Those with skills in the marketplace can readily find job options, but those who back up their skills with a degree or technical certificate are in high demand. If you are thinking of going pro, or considering developing your knowledge base for a career in web design, here are some career options that might interest you.

One of the most interesting things about web design as a career is that it gives you the option of making money in ways that you never thought possible. For instance, those who enjoy writing, but don't see themselves as starving authors can get the best of both worlds, by using their combined talents to build and maintain web pages for clients. Visual artists and graphics designers benefit from using their combined talents in the world of web design as well, by creating stunning graphics and page layouts.

Additionally web design is one of the few careers that a person can start , build and often work solely from the comfort of their own home. Many web designers chose to work just that way, by building a page to showcase their talent on the web and handling their own promotion~ what better way to submit a resume on web design than through a successful and well designed web page?

Decide what it is that interests you about web design.

Are you more interested in graphic design and writing than programming and maintenance? Then you might chose to concentrate on web page design. Web designers who chose this option often concentrate on creating a number of templates, or sample designs, which can be customized for the individual client. Some even design numerous auction style templates, that are auctioned on sites like eBay (some with full rights and others with limited or one time use rights) to be reused by other ebay sellers. By including their copyright and links on these templates they get more exposure from a group of people who are already in the marketplace they need to contact.

If self promotion and hawking of your own web page design business is not for you web designers also have a plethora of regular ,day job opportunities. Businesses and non profits hire web designers and page designers to do everything from page design and maintenance to content production and management. Often these jobs can be completed through telecommuting as well, as these rarely require 40 hour weeks of labor, and a successful web designer can carry several paying clients at once. Real estate agencies and car dealerships often offer the best web design job options because the content of their pages is constantly changing to reflect sales and contracts, and their websites must reflect a professional attitude.

Web designers with experience or education in core programming may want to look at options to work as a web master. Webmasters often go by other names, such as Information Architect, but often when you hear a person talk about web design this is actually what they are talking about. Corporations and ISP's pay skilled webmasters to complete project development, programming and server maintenance. This is a highly skilled position which involves a great deal of work that some consider tedious and dull (programming, debugging and database management) but also a rewarding career when it all comes together.

Designing websites can often be a very organic process….Especially if you're designing for yourself, for fun and are very familiar with the process. But, if efficiency is something you're interested in when it comes to designing websites, it is important to plan and implement your web design projects in a somewhat similar fashion. If implemented correctly, it stream lines your web design process and also has other benefits incuding (but not limited to):

Less time making structural changes and editsEnsures proper XHTML standard compliant formattingOrganizes stylesSaves you time, Everytime!Allows other (employees, contract workers) to make changes and edit your project

What do I mean by implementing each project in a similar fashion?

Creating 1-2..3…4 different website project template files within a folder that include all the necessary components, applications, styles, etc. of what is needed for those projects. The reason why many website designers haven't done this already, is probably due to the time involved with creating template projects and the fact that there is no direct income associated with the process of doing this. But, it will ultimately save you tons of time in the long run, allow you to make educated estimates on prices of different client projects and expedite your turn around time. All of which will earn you more income in the long run.

I'm writing this post to introduce my readers to a new series I am going to write that involves creating project folders, with template files and how to utilize this to BE A MORE EFFICIENT web designer. Why am I doing this exactly? Because I recently had to buckle down and do just this. Let me tell you, what a sweet sigh of relief to begin a web design project with a more clear idea of what I'm doing by using my predefined templates and simply adjusting them.

The series will cover the following topics:

Components of web design project template folders

Commenting and making the code easier to adjust

Creating applications ready to go!

Style sheets and the basics of creating a simple CSS file that can work with ALL your projects

Folders and file systems within projects

And more!

Stay tuned for the series on efficient web design process and template creation for your web designs.

These days' people are trying to learn as much as they can and find anyway that they can make money in their spare time. By in large most people in today's day and age realize that they have to do a lot of work to get ahead and live within their own means and they also understand that they can't afford to go to school to learn everything. Believe me, if anyone understands about money troubles and trying to find work it's a starving college student who is trying to get their degree and survive at the same time. You need to understand that things you can do in your spare time to make extra money is always good and the more trades and crafts you know the better.

That's why when I decided I needed something extra that could have a high payoff in the end I decided to learn how to design websites. Now, I know what you're sitting there thinking and it's understandable, but trust me it's one of the best ways to make some extra money. You have to realize that knowing how to design and manage websites makes you highly wanted by everyone and you will always find someone who does not want to take the time to design a website for themselves. I'll tell you now that it's not easy and like anything else you have to be dedicated at it to be successful, but it's one of the jobs that is always needed. It's the whole entire Internet you are catering to now and you can find anyone and everyone who needs a website for just about anything.

Website design can go a long way in helping you land any job and the fact that you know how to do the different types of coding will make you valuable to any company. The best part about all this is that you can make your own websites without a web hosting company and save them on your computer and show them to others as if they were the real thing, even if your client does not have an Internet connection present. You also don't have to worry about advertising, because you are pitching yourself by showing others your websites that you have done and that will help to advertise you in itself and you can advertise yourself within your web design as well. Just know that doing all types of websites and expressing your creative side allows those looking into you to go away with the impression that you can do anything and everything they expect you to.

One big thing I notice well known website designers do is charge way too much for the work they do. Look at it this way, when you are starting out you definitely don't want to be asking for a ton of money up front and I would suggest that you make it affordable and enjoyable for you and them. The thing you need to remember is that when all these other web designers charge un godly amounts, they are competing with others that generally agree high price is good, but if you stay low and reasonable you will get a ton on business and exposure and the big shots will not be able to compete with you in that department. The sad fact is that a lot of these people that make websites to advertise their website making abilities will grossly overcharge the consumer for the work they do and the consumer will have no idea, because they don't have any experience in web site design themselves.

The best part about deciding to go into website design as a trade of sorts is that you can do it on your own time and on your own schedule and you can do it whenever you want to. Also, because website designing has to do with the net, there are a ton of tutorials on how to do anything and everything and a ton of coding websites which will provide you will the walkthroughs and all the coding you will ever need. Though this is the case, it still takes a great deal of work and dedication to produce good quality websites. Make sure to meet with your clients and discuss with them in detail what they would like to have done. Have a brainstorming session with them and make sure to allow them to give you constant feedback and ideas. Be creative and let your own imagination show through on your website designs. Treat your customer as you would want to be treated and create a website that you can be proud of.

What most people in the website design business seem to forget is making the customer happy. If the customer ask for certain things to be done and you do extra free of charge or not charge for things you ordinarily would that goes a long way. Ask the customer what they feel a website is worth and ask them why they think that is the case. Throwing out a number in this type of situation is not smart and can lead to problem, the best way to approach it is to explain everything to your customer and then ask what they think about a price point based on the work, and then you can make a deal. Remember that having constant communication between you and your consumer is key here and you should always make sure they are pleased with your work.

It is also important that you gain the rights to your own work. What I mean to say is that you claim it by putting your name and the name of your company on the end of each page in a small footer. This will provide for free advertising for you, as well as allow you to keep your rights as the websites original designer. Don't push your luck and always, always always be honest with them. Make sure they know the time that goes into designing it and make sure they know that it could take some time to complete based on what they are asking for you to do. Be patient and realize that you will have many setbacks in your creative process and that if website design was easy, then more people would be doing it. It is important to remember to save and back up any and every project that you ever do. The reason for this is that you don't want to have to continue to type the code over and over again, so the best way to avoid this is to save all your web pages and grab code from them when you need to.

All in all a person can learn a lot from doing website design. They have the ability to explore their own creative ideas and concepts as well as improve their communication and interpersonal skills. Having the ability to learn more about the technology that is here to stay is always the way to go in today's economy and website design can help make that a reality. You may find through website design that you like it or that it gave you a great opportunity to learn more about how advertising and color schemes work. Remember to never lie to your consumer and give the effort equivalent to the amount of money being paid. If you feel that you have overcharged them, then do a few nice things and give them free of charge. Website designing is tedious and can be very frustrating at times, but it can also be very creative and beautiful.

A simple online business model to follow for new online websites is the 7 C's model. Try to think of the 7 C's as a roadmap for designing your website user interface. The C's are: Context, Content, Community, Customization, Communication, Connection, and Commerce. Each area must align with your original business strategy and website model. If each area connects with each other well enough, your website will fare much better than if each area was quite different from one another. The only real way to see if your website model is meeting the needs of your viewers is to offer a prototype model. Here we will cover the basics of the first four C's of the 7 C's model, and what each area should accomplish.

Context: Within context are two major factors which your viewers are going to look at; Website function, and Website Aesthetics. Your new website model should be able to load very quickly no matter how large the page files are. There should be quality information on each page, and have an effective website search feature. This will allow your viewers to find information quickly, and stay for a long period of time. As well, your website design should mimic your offline company features; your brand identity should be seen in your website design. This lets your viewers know who you are without having to outright tell them.

Content: Depending on the type of website you are about to design, the content within your website must either address cognitive or emotional appeal; or both. Your first homepage (landing page) should try to be as simple as possible; keeping all detailed information on tabbed links off to the sides or header. The recent use of “blogging” enables companies to add relevant issues to their website on a monthly, weekly, or even daily basis; keeping viewers interested in the website. As a rule, make sure your website is updated at least once per week; adding, or editing content.

Community: Every single website doesn't necessarily need to provide a communal area for viewers, but it does add to reinforcement to brand identity. At a minimum, a website forum is always a good tool to allow customers access to detailed company information, or other viewers comments.

Customization: Website surfers are drawn to websites which have a personalized touch. This may come in forms of Geo-coding (personalizing a landing page to a viewers geographical area), or account log ins. Viewers tend to like the ability to customize and personalize their own space; offering a “member log in” or “members area” may increase viewer return.

There is a lot of money to be made in web developing. And in these tough economic times, that is great to hear. You may think that getting into web developing is tough to do, and most of all, you may feel that you will have a difficult time finding decent jobs. The good news is that it is not only easy to learn what you need to know, since there are tools literally at your fingertips; however, there are sites on the web where you can find a plethora of jobs. The following information will get you jumpstarted in your career of web development.

First things first, you will need to learn various web development coding languages. This is relatively easy to do because there are a number of websites where you can learn any web coding languages that you want. One of the best sites on the web that I personally recommend is W3 Schools. W3 Schools is fabulous in that they contain up-to-date tutorials on any web coding language you want to learn. Along with these tutorials, W3 Schools enables you to interact with various portions of the site, so you can practice what you are reading. W3 Schools also offers web developing certifications for a very low cost of $75. And these certifications will help greatly when you are trying to land jobs in this industry, as web developing certifications can put you ahead of your competitors, and they will enable you to earn a better income.

Now that you have learned what you need to and have obtained your certifications, it is time that you start landing jobs. Some sites that you can check out are Guru.com, Script Lance, and Odesk. These sites require you to bid on jobs, and sometimes, you will be bidding against people who are working in third world countries who are willing to work cheap. Because you are up against such people in this market, you really have to work hard to sell yourself and your skills, which is where your certifications come in. The more web developing certifications you have, the better. And furthermore, if you really want to sell yourself and your expertise, design a few websites for free, and then ask the individuals that you designed the free websites for to write you testimonials and take their pictures, so you can include them in a portfolio. Doing all of these things will put you very much ahead of your competitors.

Before you know it, you will be making big bucks in your web development career. And best of all, you can manage yourself and do your work and study on your terms when it is convenient for you.

Why should you make a website on Microsoft expression web? Because it's an easy software for making a website that will give you all the flexibility you need. If, on the other hand, you buy a ready-made website template instead of making your own website, you will lack this flexibility to change your website whenever you want to add content or pages. You could, of course, pay a hosting company extra to use their website making software. But why should you?

With this easy 10 step tutorial you can make a stunning website with Microsoft Expression Web, and never have to pay a website designer to upgrade or update your website. You don't need to know HTML to make a website with Expression Web. And you'll be surprised to see how quickly and easily you can make your first website page, then use it as a template to make you entire website. So, let's get started.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 1

To make your website, begin by opening Microsoft Expression Web. On the top left, choose File from the horizontal menu. From File choose, open new website, then choose a, one page website. This makes the first page in your website, which is called default.htm. You should never rename this page, and you should never put it in uppercase (Default, with a capital D is not recognized by certain hosting servers). In your website the default page is like the front door. Everyone who comes to visit your website will come in through the default page. If you ever remove or change the name of your front door to a name the internet servers don't recognize, you will effectively be making a website that has no entrance, like a hotel without a doorway.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 2

To make your website with Expression Web, you will now design the default.htm page, and then use it as a website template for all subsequent pages. In the main work area (center), double-click on default.htm to open this webpage. Of course, at this point of making your website, your default.htm is blank. Now, look at the left side of your screen, at the bottom section, which is called: Layout Tables. Scroll down this section and choose one of the tables for your website. The table effectively divides the page into parts, so you can make a website that has different sections. I suggest beginning with at least one long column on the left for your menu, and one row on the top for your logo, then the large middle section below. (You can always create more sections later, so don't worry if you start to make a website with a simple table).

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 3

To make your website beautiful, let's start by adding a little color. It's easy with Expression Web. Place the cursor of your mouse over the table (anywhere is fine), then right click with your mouse and choose the option: Table Properties. Ignore all the options for now except color. To make your website fun to visit, choose a color that you and your visitors will love. Next, make your website easy to use by giving the left-side menu a different color and border. Place the cursor of your mouse over the left side column, right click and choose the option: Cell Properties. There are two color options here, one for the border and one for the background. Choose a beautiful color for the background only. Later, you can come back and add one to the border too, for beautiful final touches in making your website.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 4

Now, make your website easy to use, by creating a clear menu that tells visitor what your website has to offer. Once again, Expression web makes it easy to make a friendly and beautiful website menu. Begin by going to the top menu (at the top of your screen) and choosing the option: Insert, HTML, Horizontal Line. Then press enter on your keyboard, and type the word Home. Now highlight this word and choose a beautiful font for it, like Monotype Corsiva. And choose a bigger size and color for the font to make it stand out. And choose to center the word. (All these functions are available in the menu above, and are very similar to your Microsoft word processor.) Now create another horizontal line, and type in the next menu option that your website is all about. Make as many menu words for your website as you like, always dividing them with a dramatic horizontal bar. Note: To see what this web page really looks like (without the formatting marks that you see as you make a website), go to File, Preview in Browser. You will be prompted to save your work first. When you're done looking, close the browser and you'll be back at the Expression Web make a website page.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 5

Now, make your website logo beautiful and attractive. You can paste pictures into it, and drag the edges to enlarge or reduce the picture size. Or you can make a website with a simple logo. Here's how to do both on Expression Web. For a simple logo, place the mouse cursor over the top row of your website, right click and choose to change the background color to whatever you like. Then type in the name of your website, choose a big, bold, beautiful font. To make a website with a custom logo, it's a great idea to add photos. Begin by creating a place in your website for the photos to be kept. On the left side of your screen, at the top portion you'll see the words: default.htm. This section lists all the documents in the website you are making on Expression Web. Right now, you've only made the default page of your website. Above the default page is the location in which Expression Web is storing the website on your computer (it probably starts with C). Place the cursor of your mouse over this address, right click and choose New, Folder. Name this website folder: Images. Now paste all website images into this folder. Once the website images are in the folder, you can drag them into the logo field to paste them into place. (Note: fill in the picture description in the window that opens, then press enter, and the picture will be pasted into the website page you are making).

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 6

Now that you know how to change the color of any of the cells in your table (the table is the basic platform of the website you are making), you can play around with the colors of your website template until you are happy. Add any pictures that you want to see displayed on every page of your Expression Web website. In short, make your website what you'd like it to be, except for the specific content. This default page is now going to serve as your website template. When you're done tweaking it with Expression Web fun options, it's time to copy this page to create the other website pages, which you have listed in the website menu (on the left column). Begin by going to the top of the screen, and choosing file from the menu. Choose Save As, and instead of calling the page default.htm, now save a duplicate under the name of the first item in your menu (there is no need to save one as Home, since the default page is the Home page of the website you are making). Repeat this for every menu item in the website your are making. Each time you do this, a new page will appear in the website catalogue, on the left. Then, after you make all the website pages—and this is very important—close all the pages. (Note: if you don't do this, you could run into problems when you start hyper-linking the pages to each other.)

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 7

Now you will make your website pages connect to each other. Expression web makes it very easy. Begin by opening the default.htm page. Next, highlight the first option in your left-side menu (the word: Home). Once it is highlighted, go to the top of the screen and choose Insert, Hyperlink. From the window that opened, choose: Existing File or Webpage. Now you'll see the list of your website pages. Double click on default.htm. This will hyperlink the word Home in your website menu to the webpage default. Repeat this for all the words in your left side menu, hyper-linking each word to its corresponding page. When you are finished, your default.htm file in the website you are making will be fully operational. Now you'll need to copy it over to all the other pages. The easiest way is to save it again under each of the other website file names. Thus, go to File, Save As, then choose each of the website pages in turn. Begin by making a website with a few menu options, then as your website grows, just add more pages. And remember to always close the pages that were renamed before you continue working on them; otherwise, you risk confusing Expression Web.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 8

Make your website beautiful by using the content field wisely. Right now it's probably a single square block with nothing in it. But Expression Web makes it easy to divide the space into sections, to paste pictures, or create different color backgrounds here and there. This will make your website interesting and easier to use, by cutting the information into sections. So let's say you want to divide the space into two columns. Just place your mouse cursor over the center of the website you are making, (which you wish to divide), then right click with the mouse and choose Modify, Split Cells, then choose if to split into two columns. You can also split into rows, or into more than two of each, if you like.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 9

Remember that you can customize the sections (cells) in the middle of the website you are making. Expression web makes it easy—just right click with the mouse and choose Cell Properties. Change the color of each cell, add a border around it, or change its size. All the options are there for you to use and have fun with as you make your website with Expression Web.

Make a Website with Expression Web: #Step 10

The best thing about Microsoft Expression Web is that the program will update all the pages whenever you make a change like renaming a picture or a website page. This will prevent hyperlinks from breaking. Remember that you can always view the website in the browser, to see what it will really look like. Finally, even though Microsoft Expression Web will always get you started with a default font and a default font size, it is recommended to change these to the font of your choice. Otherwise, the website you are making will look different in different browsers. Why? Because each browser has its own interpretation of a default font.

And that's it. You now know how to make a website with Expression Web, and you can add as many pages as you like to your website. In short, you are now the webmaster, and in complete control of your website content. And you'll never again have to pay someone else to make a website template for you, or to update your website with new information.

The Following Story is from Associated Content and brought to you by Individual California Health Insurance Quotes

One of the biggest costs to many household budgets on a monthly basis is health insurance. Health insurance premiums continue to rise, even if you use your insurance sparingly. But there are ways that you can save money on your health insurance. Consider these tips for getting a lower insurance premium:

1. Consider your coverage needs. Many people just automatically renew their policies each year, without stopping to check whether or not their coverage is updated. Carefully look at your health insurance plan. Do you have coverage you don't need? One of the biggest offenders is maternity insurance. If you have taken steps to surgically ensure that you don't have children, or if you have reached menopause, there is no reason to continue carrying maternity insurance. Other plans include alternative medicine. If you know you won't be using these treatments, or if you use them infrequently enough to pay cash, get rid of that coverage.

2. Adjust your deductible. I like to keep an emergency fund that has enough in it to cover my deductible, which is $1,500. Your deductible is how much you pay out of pocket for medical expenses (this doesn't include co-pays). If you have a higher deductible, your health insurance premium will be lower. Few of us really end up with such problems that we will need our insurance. It's usually there as a safety net for unexpected health problems.

3. Consider paying cash. Many doctors and specialists now offer cash discounts if you pay for your office visit when you come in. This is because it is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to deal with insurance companies. Find out what kind of cash discount is offered. If you can afford to pay for occasional visits and routine lab work, consider going that route and maintaining health insurance coverage for the big things. This helps because part of the formula for determining premiums is how often you use your health insurance. If you pay cash, you aren't using insurance. Your premium will still go up every year, but it won't go up as much. Use a Health Savings Account in a complementary manner to further boost the cost-efficiency of your health care.

4. Shop around. If you think you can get a better deal somewhere else, shop around for a better price. Before committing to an insurance company, get several quotes so that you can choose the one that is most cost efficient for you.

While there is no way to avoid health insurance costs, at least until we get universal coverage like every other developed nation, you can at least minimize their effects on your household budget.

Thanks to California Health Insurance Quotes for bringing the following blog post

In the United States, people without health insurance and other vulnerable populations depend on a loosely organized health care safety net for access to care. Three factors threaten to overwhelm this safety net: the increasing size of the uninsured segment of out population; the slowly dwindling financial assistance for subsidized care providers; and intensified competition for Medicaid patients under managed care.

Can't Afford to Get Sick: A Reality for Millions of Working Americans, a study by the Commonwealth Fund found that many under the median income of $35,000 go uninsured without obtaining necessary care having poor health and trouble paying their health care bills. The same study showed that two of five workers earning less than $20,000 are not offered or eligible to participate in employer provided plans.

Nationally, from 1990 to 1994, the uninsured population grew from 13 percent to 15 percent while the percentage of people obtaining coverage through their employers dropped. Without any future Medicaid coverage expansions, it is estimated that the percentage who are uninsured will grow to 24 percent by 2002. As Claude Earl Fox, M.D., M.P.H., acting administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration, stated, “Widespread access to primary health care for uninsured, underserved people simply cannot be achieved without more health centers and outreach such as the voucher programs.”

The 1994 National Access to Care Survey by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation examined the likelihood of having a usual source of care, inability to obtain needed care, and number of physician visits for persons with private insurance, Medicaid coverage, and no insurance. Medicaid participants were found to be half as likely as the uninsured and twice as likely as the privately insured to report difficulty with health care. Access for those on Medicaid closely resembled that of the privately insured than that of the uninsured.

A basic issue in health care access is insurance. However, as Joan Jacobs, a policy analyst at the Office of Minority Health states, “We have to look at the fact that when there is coverage or when care is available, many Americans still aren't getting it. Access to insurance doesn't necessarily mean access to care, or even high-quality care for that matter.” 1 Other barriers include fear of infection, fear of economic loss, cultural insensitivity, and linguistic barriers.

The Following Story is brought to you by Individual California Health Insurance Quotes

Affordable health insurance has been more than just a political platform, it is a concern that is in the thoughts of almost everyone in the country. Maintaining good health is now more important than ever, because the adverse financial impact of a serious illness could be financially devastating. In these times of economic uncertainty, getting and maintaining good health insurance has become more and more difficult.

Finding the best medical insurance is no easy task. To find the best coverage at the best price, you are going to have to take your time and research all of the medical insurers currently available to you. Don't be discouraged, though. There are many factors – like a pre-existing condition, that will eliminate you right off the bat, and make your list grow short rather quickly. The time spent collecting these details will be time well spent.

When reviewing the different policies offered by health insurers, you should understand certain things, such as:

· How much is the premium? (monthly payment)

· How much is the deductible? (how much money will need to be paid out of pocket before coverage kicks in)

· What are the copay costs? (primary doctors, specialists, preventive, and behavioral care specialists all may have different copay amounts)

· How is emergency care is covered? (sometimes it is only a low percentage)

· What percentage of prescription costs is covered? (the higher the better)

I have been thinking about national health insurance and I used to be for it. But now I am not sure, as there are two fundamental problems with any national health insurance plan.

The first problem can be summed up briefly. If you have national health care, the government will run it. Quick name anything that the government runs efficiently. Think about how happy you are to renew your driver's license. You dread the long lines, the rude clerks, their attitude of ” I don't give a damn”. This is the same government that will be running national health insurance. You think you hate your HMO now. You think that CIGNA stands for Called In Got No Answer, just wait until it is taken over by the government clerks.

And let's be real. You think there is too much administration and paper work involved in the health care industry now? PLEASE! Again name one government program that has ever decreased paper work and administrative costs.

Remember Ronald Reagan's famous line. “The scariest phrase in the world is I am from the government and I am here to help you.”

In theory , national health care insurance sounds great. But the government cannot run anything efficiently, the projected cost of national health insurance hovers somewhere around one trillion a year, and you are assuming the government will keep these costs under control. Okay – you are allowed to snicker here. The words government and cost control do not belong in the same sentence. Again, name one government program known for its sterling cost control efforts.

You may hate Blue Cross, but they have shareholders they must report to. They have a profit they must make every year. They have an incentive to keep costs under control. What incentive does the government have to keep costs under control?

The other fundamental problem with national health care is the very assumption that it rests upon. People need health care, therefore the government will provide it. Last time I checked, we already had a private sector providing health insurance.

Now think about that. If the government can take over any private sector business, because ” people need the product.” , that is , at best, a very shaky argument. And if the government can take over a private sector business, because “they are charging too much”, that again is a very scary proposition.

Look we all need electricity. But if I don't pay my bill, the power company will shut off my lights. That is not fair. Over 40 million Americans cannot afford electricity and something must be done about it. The obvious answer is to have the goverrment take over my local electric company and provide me with electricity. That will teach the electric company two lessons. First , do not get into business providing a service people “need”. As with national health care, if the government does not like the job you are doing, they will take you over.

The second lesson. Just like health care premiums, if the electric rates go up too high and the people cannot afford your needed service, the government can step in, take over, and ensure that everyone has affordable premiums, I mean electric rates.

Hmm – government clerks running your health care. And giving the government permission to take over any business sector providing a vital service – electricity, housing, food, gas – just so government clerks can control the costs. Those are two roads I don't want to go down.
