What About Trane Through The Wall Air Conditioners For Motels

Air conditioning was one of the most important technological developments of the twentieth century. Trane is a key manufacturer of heating and cooling systems. Following is an overview of Trane through the wall air conditioners.
Most air conditioners use either open or closed evaporation. The open systems are called evaporators and will not be addressed here. The closed systems are called refrigerators. They evaporate a refrigerant fluid in a closed system. This causes it to absorb heat. It is then pumped out of the area being cooled, recompressed to release the heat, and reused.
Trane is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand and formerly part of American Standard Companies. It is a leading manufacturer of heating and cooling systems. Its products include gas furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, integrated systems, and supporting equipment. It offers both home and commercial lines of equipment.
Trane’s marketing is mostly focused on large systems. However, they do sell some smaller ones too. Their Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) would qualify as through the wall air conditioners. One PTAC will cool one, or at most two, rooms. They are designed to be installed through an outside wall. They could be used for hotel guest rooms. A separate unit for each room makes it easier to control by room, and even to turn off in unused rooms.
Some PTACs are actually heat pumps. A heat pump can either heat or cool. It uses the refrigeration process in either case. When heating it brings heat from outdoors into the area to be heated.
PTAC cooling capacities range from 7,000 BTUs up to 15,000 BTUs. They can either have no electric heating or they can have up to 5 kilowatts. Some models operate on 208 volt electricity, others on 265 volts.
The units can be turned on and off remotely. This could be useful in a hotel, where a central location could ensure that only the rooms in use are being heated or cooled. This could save both staff time and utility bills.
Each unit has built in thermostat control capability. They can be used with a wide variety of thermostats. It is possible to program limits for thermostat settings. An optional remote temperature sensor can be placed to give better control over room temperature.
They can be set to dehumidify the air without cooling it. In many circumstances this can give the same comfort level as cooling for less expense. Outside air can be vented in to the room through a filter. This reduces the load of pollen and dust, making the air more pleasant to breath and helping to keep the room from getting dirty. They can be very quiet when the fan is on low.
For greater reliability, the electrical heating automatically backs up the heat pump heating. The PTACs are designed to not all turn on at the same time after a power failure, this preventing power surges.
Due to their efficient and quiet operation, centralized air conditioning and heating are often favored. It is good to remember that less central options have their advantages. In some situations one of the Trane through the wall air conditioners can be a good choice.

I have additional reviews and knowledge relating to Trane Air Conditioners and Wall Air Conditioners at my website. I am going to furthermore let you in on a little secret: How to get them cheaper than anyplace else on the internet ;) Thank you for reading my article, and all the best!

Combined heating and power using microturbines in a major Urban hotel.(Report): An article from: ASHRAE Transactions

Combined heating and power using microturbines in a major Urban hotel.(Report): An article from: ASHRAE Transactions – This digital document is an article from ASHRAE Transactions, published by American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. on January 1, 2009. The length of the article is 6998 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

From the author: This paper describes the results of a cooperative effort to install and operate a cooling, heat, and power (CHP) system at a major hotel in San Francisco, CA. The packaged CHP system integrated four microturbines, a double-effect absorption chiller, two fuel gas boosters, and the control hardware and software to ensure that the system operated predictably, reliably, and safely. The chiller was directly energized by the recycled hot exhaust from the microturbines and could be configured to provide either chilled or hot water. As installed, the system was capable of providing up to 227 kW of net electrical power and 142 refrigeration tons (RT) of chilled water at a 59[degrees]F (15[degrees]C) ambient temperature. Under certain conditions, the system demonstrated the ability to deliver a CHP efficiency of over 80%. However, for a full year, the efficiency was only 54% due to non-optimal integration with existing building equipment. Significant lessons learned from this test and verification project are discussed, as are measured performance and economic considerations.

Just got Apple MB535LL/A Apple Mac Pro MB535LL/A Desktop

Just got Apple Mac Pro MB535LL/A Desktop Super Fast and Very QuietBy D. AminiI owned a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz before the video card died. I use two cinema HD monitors and the AGP cards are hard to find for that older model. I am not a super power user so I seldom encode heavy duty video. I am a light user of Aperture and Photoshop. Trying to do light video and photo editing on my G5 was not painfully slow but the computer was showing its age. Typical tasks took a while; I would walk away and sometimes come back an hour later. The G5 was loud and hot. The ATI x800 XT was a noisy and a buggy video card. When I opened my new Mac Pro I was wondering if I should have bought last year’s dual quad processor (2.8 Ghz) instead of the new Nehalem single processor (2.6 Ghz). The prices were pretty close. The 2009 model has more RAM and a bigger hard drive. Rest assured this new machine is no slouch. I am not sure how many professional Mac users use Mac Pros and how many get by with the Macbook Pro; but, I think that if high end professionals can use a laptop with a dual core processor then I certainly should be OK with a single Quad core processor. I ordered mine with a second NVIDIA GT 120 video card. This way I have two Dual Link DVI ports and two Mini DisplayPorts. Remember, the standard computer ships with a single video card that offers only one Dual Link DVI port. The other port is Apple’s Mini DisplayPort which works only with Apple’s new 24 inch glossy display. The adapter needed to plug in any other monitor (think 30 inch Cinema HD) into the Mini DisplayPort is a ridiculous $100. After buying this adapter, there is no guarantee it will work!!! Hence, I just bought an extra video card. The case is a breeze to work with. I slipped in the video card without any screwdriver or tools. My old hard drive went into the second slot tray (I did need a screwdriver to fasten the hard drive to the tray). The hard drive trays are side by side and pull out like a drawer. No wires, no broken fingernails, no bloody knuckles. RAM can be added and swapped out easily too. After connecting each monitor to a separate video card, I booted it up and imported all my old settings. The machine was done setting up and ready to roll in 25 minutes. The fan noise from the video cards is barely noticeable. My Macbook is three times louder. I don’t know what people are talking about when they say that the video card fan is noisy? I suppose if you put it on top of your desk next to your monitor it might be noticeable, but it is not any louder than any laptop. I have yet to see the dreaded beach ball spinning. This is the quietest and fastest machine I have ever used. I tried a 17 inch (2.6 Ghz) Macbook Pro at the Apple store and it was much noisier and much slower. It is possible that the laptop was running SMC fan control so I won’t complain about the laptop fan. If you are one of those people that puts their laptop on top of those cooling devices/fans then you can appreciate just how noisy things can get. For me, the reliability and easy access to Mac Pro case make this a long term investment. I think it should easily last 5 years. There are only 4 RAM slots and I can upgrade from the standard 3GB to 8GB for $150. If you need more than 8GB RAM then opt for the dual quad core model and double the available slots. If you need that much RAM you probably are not going to be happy with this single processor machine anyway. I think that some of the hype about Ghz and number of processors has made people speed crazy. There are some who would disagree with me and argue that you can never have too many processors and too much RAM. I would look at the bottom line and budget accordingly. Remember that the next new model will be out next year! Be honest with yourself and remember to factor in the costs of upgrades like HDs, RAM, Applecare, Video cards, Ports etc. One final note; I do miss the Firewire 400 ports. OWC sells Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 adapters that fit over the plugs. It is a $5 fix. I think that you will be happy with this machine if you don’t need multiple processors and aren’t going to add over 16 GB of RAM. It is plenty fast and very quiet. If you are a home user and don’t need to open the case to upgrade parts, consider the iMac as an alternative. It comes with a bright 24 inch screen and is almost as fast.See all 31 customer reviews… »» Read more about Apple Mac Pro MB535LL/A Desktop

StudentScholarships.org – The Hybrid Sensation

The Hybrid car is one of the unsurpassed inventions of the 21st century. It is not only environmentally friendly but, with this car you receive better mileage and, with gas prices ever-increasing, many families across the country are saving hundreds of dollars on gas alone. When you by a hybrid car you are simply buying a better car period.
Global warming could increase the number of people affected by flooding by 20 – 50 million people. Entire ecosystems may be lost and others severely impacted. According to a 2004 Pentagon report, an abrupt global climate change could bring the planet to complete devastation as countries fight to defend and secure the decreasing food, water, and energy supplies. These are just a few reasons why the hybrid car is such an influential invention. A gallon of gasoline weighs just over 6 pounds. When burned, the carbon in it combines with oxygen from the air to produce nearly 20 pounds of carbon dioxide. By switching from a gas guzzler to a hybrid, you can literally save the earth a couple of tons of greenhouse gases.
If the fuel economy were improved by 5 mpg, that would save 1.5 million barrels of oil per day. That’s approximately 55 million metric tons of carbon per day. Using such cars as hybrid cars could be a major step to alleviate global warming.
All hybrids get better mileage than conventional cars. Some get better fuel mileage in stop and go traffic, while others do better on the highway. Hybrid cars also produce about 90% less smog than the average conventional car. Hybrids use NiMH batteries, not the rechargeable nickel cadmium which causes a lot of damage to the environment. “Nickel metal hydride batteries [can be] fully recycled,” says Ron Cogan, editor of the Green Car Journal.
With gas prices soaring to more than $2 a gallon, there’s no smarter reason to switch to a hybrid than fuel efficiency. In fact, hybrid cars can go for more than 600 miles between fill-ups, meaning you can cut visits to your gas station in half, saving you time and money. If you drive 1,000 miles a month and your current car averages 20 miles per gallon, driving a hybrid could save $700 or more a year at the pump.
Hybrids are also small, quick, and good at avoiding accidents. Toyota’s new version of the Prius, Toyota’s hybrid gas-electric automobile can even parallel park itself. People who purchase a new hybrid by the end of 2005 are eligible for a “Clean-Fuel” vehicle tax deduction of up to $2,000. New more valuable tax inducement will go into effect on January 1, 2006, as part of the “Energy Policy Act of 2005.”
The hybrid is truly a remarkable invention. Whether you are looking to help the environment, or save money the Hybrid is your best option. It also doesn’t hurt that Hollywood stars like Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Larry David, and Leonardo DiCaprio just happen to be hybrid owners!

To complete this How-To you will need: Overdrive Cruise control Shaded parking spots Radial tires Step 1: Don’t sweat it Go on — enjoy your air conditioner on the highway. Consumer Reports says that AC’s gas-guzzling reputation is undeserved. And, at higher speeds, opening the windows or sunroof can hurt fuel economy by increasing drag. Step 2: Run on empty Don’t fill up your tank until you’re practically on empty; the less fuel you’re toting, the lighter your car, and the more efficiently it will run. Step 3: Turn nozzle upside down After filling up your car, turn the nozzle upside down before you remove it from your tank. You’ll get another half a cup of gas that’s stuck in the hose. Step 4: Tighten your gas cap Tighten your gas cap after filling up so you don’t let any precious fuel evaporate. Tip: Try to park in the shade. This will also help prevent evaporation. Step 5: Use your overdrive Put your car in overdrive for highway driving. It lowers your RPM, or revolutions per minute, which saves gas. Check your
